Q: I installed your new 3.0.5 client and the DNS is leaking.
Please go to the Settings tab in the client and make sure 'Enable DNS leak protection' is turned on. Click on Save Options and test if it is still leaking.
Q: I am on XP/Vista and the new client does not work.
The following links applies to XP. Vista download links are available at https://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html
Since you are on XP, you are unable use our VPN client as XP does not support it. You will need to use the OpenVPN GUI instead.
Please download and install the appropriate GUI for your XP. Top is 32-bit, bottom is 64-bit:
http://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/openvpn-install-2.3.13-I001-i686.exe
http://swupdate.openvpn.org/community/releases/openvpn-install-2.3.13-I001-x86_64.exe
From the user dashboard, please download the GUI_Windows inline file. Unzip the contents to C:\Program Files\OpenVPN\config.
Since the GUI only supports a maximum of 50 ovpn files, please pick and choose the servers that you need.
Please disconnect from the VPN server you are currently connected to before switching servers because the OpenVPN GUI will not disconnect your previous connection.
Q: I am using Mac OS 10.7.5 and above, and the client window asked me for root access and then disappeared!
The following is a workaround:
1. Use Finder and Show Package Contents
2. Then go to BOLEHVPN-GUI>Contents>MacOS
3. Doubleclick on BolehVPN (enter root or admin password if asked)
4. Close Finder
It should open the GUI now and you close and start the GUI again as normal. The above is need to be done once only. We are looking into this issue to find the cause of this problem on some OSX users.
If this still does not work, you will need to download and install Tunnelblick instead.
Q: I am using Mac OS 10.7.5 and below, and the new client doesn't work.
You will need to use Tunnelblick Please download the inline configuration files from https://users.bolehvpn.net and follow this guide: https://www.bolehvpn.net/mac-installation/
Select the Tunnelblick version appropriate to your Mac OS version.
Q: I am on Linux and I have trouble connecting.
You will need at least OpenVPN version 2.3.10 to run properly. Please check the version number of OpenVPN that you are running by opening a terminal and inputting the following:
openvpn --version
The guide on how to upgrade your OpenVPN version is available here:
https://community.openvpn.net/openvpn/wiki/OpenvpnSoftwareRepos
Q: I am using Linux with Network Manager and I have trouble connecting.
For Mint (Mint 18 KDE), you use the import VPN and select whichever server you wanted to connect. Download the Linux_iOS_Normal configuration files from your dashboard because MINT Network-Manager cannot import inline format. Do the normal import VPN and then make the following changes:
1. Click on Advanced>Security>Change Cipher AND HMAC as per the configuration file you selected. Verify the LZO compression as well.
You will need to open the ovpn file with a text editor and make the changes as shown in the configuration file.
2, Click on TLS-Settings and enter the following in Subject Match field: /CN=bviserver. Save and test the connection again.
If you are using the Network Manager on other distributions, please try the above steps as well. You can visit the Linux Support forum for more information from our community. You can also follow the Linux bug thread.
Q: I am on DDWRT and I have trouble connecting.
Download the latest configuration files (6 December 2016). This should fix most of the issues.
Open the ovpn file that you have imported and cross check the settings on the VPN setup page. Pay close attention to Compression and Accept DNS Configuration.
Contact support@bolehvpn.net if you are still having problems.
Q: I'm getting a "WARNING: the data is not in correct format, the login might fail." in the logs.
This issue has been patched with the Boleh client released 6 December 2016. If you are still having this issue, make sure that you have an active subscription before attempting the following steps.
Please download this file: https://www.bolehvpn.net/downloads/setting.ini. Copy it to the following folder, overwriting the existing setting.ini.
Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\BolehVPN\
Mac OS:
Finder>Applications>BolehvpnGUI>Contents/MacOS/
Q: My client is showing a "certificate might be expired" error, but I have an active subscription!
Have you updated to the latest version of our client?
